At Artisan Aromatics, all of our Artisan Essential Oils™ are obtained directly from small distillers and producers we personally know and trust and who produce their oils specifically for the Aromatherapy trade.
Each of our Artisan Essential Oils™ is personally selected by Dr. Joie Power and is of the very best quality. These Artisan Essential Oils™ are not mass produced, but are produced one drop at a time by folks who care about what they're doing and strive to offer the very best in essentail oils. These exquisite oils offer excellent value considering the individual attention given to producing each one and their rare and unique nature. When you inhale the aroma of any of our exceptional Artisan Essential Oils™, you will immediately recognize it as being one of the finest oils anywhere. We select wild, native and organic oils whenever possible. We also do not deal in oils that have been solvent extracted (absolutes) but rather, for the delicate flowers like Gardenia, Lily, Rose and Tuberose, we have found a producer who uses the ancient method of Enfleurage to extract these exquisite oils.

Artisan Essential Oils™ are Essential Oils that are produced in an eco-ethical manner by small grower/harvesters who do their own production to the highest of standards specifically for the aromatherapy and healing arts communities.
Artisan Essential Oils™ are produced on a small scale and not manufactured for the mass market. These precious oils are produced on small family farms and distilled on-site. These grassroots producers take advantage of the local climactic and soil conditions and grow plants that are appropriate for their regions, living and working with the plants daily. In these days of mass marketing, almost all essential oils are obtained from large distributors who purchase oils by the drum and ton. It is our goal to return to the roots of aromatherapy and move back to dealing direct with family businesses and supporting them in their efforts to make a sustainable living in their time honored ways. This eco-friendly method is based on fair trade.
Each of our group of Artisan Essential Oils™ are obtained directly from the wildcrafter/growers who then extract the oils and, of course, all are genuine, pure and unadulterated. The oils we select are organically grown (though not all are certified organic) or wild harvested. Those that are wild harvested are wild-crafted by folk who understand the need for bio-diversity and their very real need for sustainability.
Artisan Aromatic's collection of artisan essential oils represents the highest professional standards of excellence for essential oils and we believe that our decision to deal only in artisan essential oils is not only good for us, our customers and our students but is a necessary step towards an economy based on support of cultural and biological diversity.
The type of distillation equipment used, of course, varies from one producer to the next but all are of traditional design and the oils are extracted slowly at low temperature with little pressure, assuring that the full-spectrum of volatiles remains in the oils. This is much different from the way most oils are extracted on large industrial scale since almost of those oils go to the food and perfume industries. And, as mentioned above, some of the Essential Oils that we carry are derived by the ancient method of Enfleurage which is quite labor intensive but yields a perfect aromatic replica of the flower itself.
